Saratoga County 4-H presents

Veterinary Science

and

New Advanced Science Projects

Saratoga County 4-H will be hosting the Vet Science Project Monday nights starting February 24th, and culminating with a group trip to the Cornell Vet School Open House on April 18th! Class times are 6-7:30pm. Some classes are held at the office while others are at local veterinary clinics. A schedule will be sent before classes begin. Spaces are limited. The recommended age is 12 and up, however there is a waiting list for 11 year olds, first come-first served as space permits. The cost is $10 per person which covers all 6 weeks.

Advanced Veterinary Science Project

This year Saratoga County 4-H will be offering an Advanced Vet Science program for those of you who have already completed the Vet Science Project. Please call the 4-H office to sign up at 518-885-8995

All those who sign up will be sent an application in which each participant will have to write a one page essay (this year we will be accepting everyone that has signed up at a first come first serve basis with a cap of 10 participants, but in the future we will have an application deadline and review all applications to accept most deserving) The application and essay topics will be sent out the first of November to the 4-H members that have signed up.

There will be a preliminary meeting at the end of November that all participants and at least one parent or guardian must attend, during this meeting we will go over desired topics of participants and come up with a schedule for the next 6-12 weeks. We will only have six sessions but may decide not to have a session every week.

Pre-planned topics are: Surgery observation, fecal lab, vet student interview, and small animal handling.

Each participant will be required to keep a project book, there will be short essay questions that go along with each session and the group will put together a small display that will be exhibited at the small animal building at the Saratoga County Fair.

Cost for the advanced Vet Science class will be $25.00 to cover traveling and supplies costs.

To sign up or questions please send to Brieanna, bh548@cornell.edu or                518-885-8995
