Farmland Access Workshops: Farmland Leasing

The final presentation in the Farmland Access Workshop Series is Farmland Leasing. Presented by David Wood of Eildon Tweed Farm and Nicole Tommel of Cornell Cooperative Extension, farmland leasing has become increasingly popular as landowners seek to keep their land in production but do not wish to actively farm. Additionally, farmers seeking to expand their production without upfront costs of purchasing land can utilize farmland leasing. This one-hour lunch and learn will give helpful tips from technical staff and farmers on how to develop a successful lease agreement, determine current land rental rates, identify abilities to capture land tax savings through the leasing process, and other helpful tips.
