Support for Your Diabetes
By Diane Whitten, Nutrition Educator
It’s hard living with diabetes.
Professionals believe that having a support system is a key to lifestyle
changes that can help you to control your diabetes with diet, physical activity
and, if necessary, medication. Family can be part of your support system, but
not always. Sometimes wanting to please family by having the usual food in your
house makes it harder for you to stick to needed dietary changes. If you have
supportive family, you’re fortunate. If you don’t have any support at home, you
can find support elsewhere.
Locally we have Registered Dietitians
and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists at Saratoga Hospital.
They are offering virtual support groups to help people with diabetes to
interact with others who share their struggle. There are regular support groups, call Sandra Larose at (518)
886-5121 for more information.
